HR Program Administrator is September GCS Employee of the Month

Karon Williams praised for dedication to superior customer service

Greensboro, N.C. – With nearly 10,000 employees, the GCS recruiting and staffing team stays busy, hiring hundreds of new employees each summer and throughout the year. For transportation and other non-school positions, Karon Williams is the one who gets things done, and her dedicated customer service earned her the title of September GCS Employee of the Month.

As a program administrator in staff operations, Williams works with supervisors and new employees to ensure that the hiring process goes smoothly. For supervisors with multiple vacancies, having someone like Williams in your corner can be a game-changer.

Williams was nominated by Mike Lee, director of fleet service operations, who wrote: “I am a new employee to the district and a director of a department with more than 40 employee positions and 14 vacancies. Karon has been my go-to person in Human Resources when I have questions concerning hiring, open positions, assigned positions and employee statuses. I understand that most departments are short-staffed, but Karon has always answered my questions immediately on most occasions and always within the day that my question was submitted.

“Her professionalism and dedication to superior customer service should not go unnoticed. I appreciate her willingness to go above and beyond the minimum, and I hope others can look towards her as a role model to reach their maximum potential in their respective positions! Karon is a great example of the best of what Guilford County Schools has to offer — the right people in the right positions to maximize our strengths in an effort to provide the best for our GCS students.

Williams received a $50 gift card courtesy of the Greensboro Jaycees. During the month of September, her photo will be displayed at the district’s central offices and in the Greensboro Jaycees office.
