Exceptional Children’s Lead Teacher Named May Employee of the Month

Jen Nierle nominated for work with staff, students at Montlieu Elementary

Greensboro, N.C. – As a lead teacher for Exceptional Children’s school support, Jen Nierle works with eight elementary schools to support the education of students with special needs. When one of those schools faced unexpected teacher turnover within the EC team, Nierle stepped up to make sure student learning didn’t suffer – even teaching classes herself to fill the void. For her efforts and for demonstrating that we are truly #bettertogether, Nierle was named the May GCS Employee of the Month.

Nierle’s three nominations came from educators and administrators at Montlieu Academy of Technology, including this one from principal Kimberly Scott: “Ms. Nierle is a true GCS rock star who has supported our school in numerous ways this year. She has come to our rescue in ensuring that each scholar has an individualized learning plan that will help to enhance their strengths while also closing current gaps. She has met with numerous families and also supported our teachers as they work to ensure that each child’s needs are met. She has supported us by directly working with our scholars to make sure that learning never stops. She has worked tirelessly on our campus and also during her personal time to make certain that our EC scholars continue to thrive. We are forever grateful for her and all that she has done to support our school community this year.”

Nierle received a $50 gift card courtesy of the Greensboro Jaycees. During the month of May, her photo will be displayed at the district’s central offices and in the Greensboro Jaycees office.
